World Gourmet Summit
Instructions for Gourmands
While Singaporeans come from different socio-cultural backgrounds, one common passion is our undying love for food. It is perfectly apt that the annual World Gourmet Summit is held at the bastions of fine dining throughout the city, such as the Grand Hyatt's Mezza9, The Fullerton Hotel's The Lighthouse, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Singapore's Pontini, Fairmont Singapore's Inagiku, and St Regis Singapore's Brasserie Les Saveurs.
Over the years, the festival, with its emphasis on fine cuisine, great wines and unique dining, has come into its own as Southeast Asia's premier fine dining festival. Previous editions of this festival have included internationally acclaimed luminaries of the culinary arts like multiple Michelin starred Anne-Sophie Pic, Bart De Pooter, Heinz Beck and renowned television chef Curtis Stone.
This annual gourmet food and wine festival promises gourmands everywhere the chance to immerse themselves in the finest haute cuisine from almost every conceivable world cuisine in this planet. With an enticing line-up of events such as dinners created by popular celebrity chefs; up close and personal sessions with world renowned Michelin star chefs; engaging culinary workshops where one can learn about the nuances of using premium ingredients to create tantalising dishes; delectable wine tasting and table luncheons – held in an array of upmarket restaurants like French fusion restaurant St. Pierre, Italian eatery Il Lido and Chinese restaurant Jade.
Get set to witness magical collaborations between executive Singaporean chefs and renowned culinary icons from around the world. But witnessing the cooking is merely a precursor to savouring the decadent culinary pleasures crafted by the giants of haute cuisine. The wine component of the festival is equally important and winemakers from the wine producing regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Tuscany, Pomerol, Spain and Australia are welcomed to Singapore where some of their finest vintages are showcased to the local community. These renowned winemakers will conduct a vertical tasting of their prized pours as well as pair some of their best vintages at specially paired dinners assigned to some of the visiting Master Chefs.
The World Gourmet Summit also hosts special workshops for the general public and food and beverage professionals alike where they can come together to learn, discuss and understand the latest trends, developments and nuances in the culinary world. So if you enjoy indulging in the finest wines and delectable world cuisine, then mark the month of April in your travel itinerary with the hottest culinary events that you want to attend.
